A shocking incident has sent waves of fear and outrage through Bihar’s political landscape: Dularchand Yadav, a senior leader of the RJD and JSP campaigner for the upcoming elections, was brutally shot dead and allegedly run over by a vehicle in the Basavanchak village of Mokama on Thursday afternoon.
Eyewitnesses describe a scene of chaos as the campaign convoy approached the village. According to police reports, Yadav’s vehicle was riddled with bullet holes before another car accelerated and crushed the leader’s body. The attack occurred while Yadav was campaigning alongside JSP candidate Piyush Priyadarshi.
The incident has stunned the region, long known for its nail-biting electoral battles and muscle-power politics. Yadav’s family and party workers have openly accused Anant Singh, a former MLA and current rival candidate from the Janata Dal (United) of orchestrating the attack. Singh has denied any involvement, as authorities launch investigations.
Police forces from the Patna range, headed by Inspector General Jitendra Rana, are now combing through evidence including the damaged cars and video footage from the site. “We are examining all angles. The situation is under control,” Rana said.
