A disturbing incident of mob violence has come to light from Nalanda district, where a woman was allegedly assaulted, groped and dragged on the street by a group of villagers over suspicion of an alleged relationship.

According to police, the incident occurred on March 26 in a village when the woman had gone to a mobile repair shop. Locals reportedly suspected her of having an inappropriate relationship with the shop owner, following which a crowd gathered and locked the premises from outside.

The situation escalated when members of the mob allegedly forced their way in and physically assaulted the woman. She was later dragged out onto the street and publicly humiliated. The victim has also alleged that she was subjected to inappropriate physical contact and harassment during the attack.

A video of the incident surfaced on social media, drawing widespread condemnation and raising concerns over law and order as well as women’s safety.

Police have registered a case and arrested two accused so far. Efforts are

underway to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in the incident.
